Guanajuato, Gto., March 15, 2018.- High school students from HS Centro Histórico León, as well as professors from this and HS Salvatierra and HS Guanajuato participated in Infomatrix 2018, an international event held in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Infomatrix Latin America XII is a fair of projects in computing, prototypes, scientific divulgation, animation, digital art, scientific story, among other categories; which becomes the continental end of the regional and national fairs of Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and Brazil.
The team of students composed by Celeste González Becerra, Arturo Barroso Zermeño and Paulina Ascencio Ciénega with advice from Prof. Frida Reyes Velázquez, participated in the category of Short film and Scientific Story, with the projects "La incógnita XY" & "Javier, el hijo de la calle."
Both projects are the result of the Jane Goodall Science Club of HS Centro Histórico León, whose project was created on August 2017 as a collaboration with "Ciencia Azul A.C.," an organization of students, graduates and young teachers at UG who have actively collaborated with the institution; this club is oversaw by M. Frida Reyes and Fernando Torres.
The story "La incógnita XY" from the author and represented by Paulina and Arturo, received the bronze medal in this contest.
In addition, some professors were also evaluators in the contest; such as M. Frida Reyes, M. Fernando Torres of HS Centro Histórico León, Dr. Claudia Erika Morales of HS Guanajuato and M. Guillermo Caballero Tinajero of HS Salvatierra.
Prof. Fernando Torres presented "Experiences in the Mexican Teacher Programme at CERN" in the training seminar for teaching scientific research (SCIENCYT), which is in the contest, to share teaching experiences with the professors and advisors of projects throughout all Latin America.
It is important to mention that this team joins another winning project in 2016 which obtained a silver medal with the project "Green light to chlorophyll", of HS Guanajuato in the X Edition held in Ecuador.
With this participation, the high school students continue showing quality and talent in national and international events adding medals to raise the name of UG and the state of Guanajuato high.
