Guanajuato, Gto., March 20, 2018.- In order to reinforce the work they do together since the 80 's, the University of Guanajuato (UG) and the Center for Research in Mathematics (CIMAT A.C.), the signing of the interinstitutional collaboration agreement was carried out to strengthen the academic activities.
UG's President, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, said that this agreement opens the door to new possibilities for cooperation, which benefits the communities of both institutions, but also favors the scientific development of the country.
He stressed the importance of adding efforts, because strategic collaboration sets the tone for growth and academic development and allows to enhance the impact it must generate in society.
Through this agreement, both institutions accept to provide resources for a common scholarship fund, which will enable young talent to be recruited, as well as to undertake human resources training projects, research, linkage, dissemination, extension and disclosure.
It is proposed to add efforts to consolidate the programs of degree in mathematics and in mathematical computation as benchmarks of academic excellence at international level.
It also seeks to increase the enrollment of students in these programs and develop mechanisms to increase terminal efficiency.
In his speech, the general Director of CIMAT A.C. Dr. Victor Manuel Rivera Mercado, stressed that the first collaboration agreement dates from 2000, and the pact that is signed on this occasion allows to give an academic follow-up to the educational programs that are offered , recognize the work of teachers from both institutions, strengthen research groups, establish common security actions; make efficient use of institutional resources and boost student mobility.
He recalled that the relationship between CIMAT and UG dates from the 1980s, and has resulted in successful contributions to the country, as more than 200 bachelor's theses, several of them with awards and honorable mentions for the quality of its content. In addition, about 70 percent of graduates are accepted into the most prestigious institutions at the international level, and others are successfully incorporated into the labor market.
On the other hand, the rector of the Guanajuato Campus, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendon Huerta Barrera celebrated the opportunity to renew this link between CIMAT and UG and thanked the efforts of those who worked to make it concrete.
The event was attended by UG, the Secretary of Management and Development, Dr. Jorge Alberto Romero Hidalgo; The Academic Secretary, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo; The Attorney General, M. Alejandro Murillo de la Rosa; The Director of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE), Dr. Agustín Ramón Uribe Ramírez, and the director of the Department of Mathematics, Dr. Antonio Murillo Salas.
On behalf of the CIMAT community participated, in addition of the General Director, Dr. Victor Manuel Rivero; the Academic Coordinator, Dr. Daniel Hernández Hernández, and the Coordinator of Academic Formation, Dr. José Ignacio Barradas Bribiesca.
