Guanajuato, Gto., March 20, 2018.- As evidence of the high quality of the educational programs of the University of Guanajuato and its students, Karina Rioyos Muñoz, a student of the fifth semester of the degree in Industrial Relations of the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences of Campus Guanajuato, was selected through the call organized by "Mar Adentro de Mexico AC", to participate in CSW 62, commission on the status of women organized by UN Women and the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).
The Commission on the Status of Women is the main international intergovernmental body devoted exclusively to the promotion of gender equality and women's empowerment. At United Nations Headquarters in New York, the student Karina Rioyos had the opportunity to take part in the different activities for discussion about the status of women and the challenges of nations in this area. This is due to her participation as a debater at the 9th and 10th National Congress of Debate, where she obtained the title of Best debater in the latter and his participation in the International Book Fair, Guadalajara 2017.
It should be noted that after this experience each delegate must culminate his participation with a report that demonstrates the results derived from his intervention in this important forum, as well as develop a proposal of action to solve or mitigate the problems posed in meetings and trainings, from the role of organized civil society.
Karina Rioyos has been a winner of calls such as: Hands around the world, heading to Japan, Municipal Award for Youth and currently participates as General Secretary of the United Nations model for the state of Guanajuato GMUN 2018 and coordinator of the Debate team of the University of Guanajuato, EDUG. The student also participates in a research project on "Smart Cities".
Thus, through the leadership of its students, the University of Guanajuato, is reaffirmed as the most important educational project in the state of Guanajuato.
