This project was created on January 25, 2017, by an initiative of a group of students, "we want to retribute something to what society gives us, we want to address the different aspects that somehow have haunted the community of Guanajuato in different places", mentioned Oscar Cristóbal Kurín Hernández, a law student and president of the "Altruism UG" program.

"Altruism means to get in other's shoes, is not to stay with the thought that everything is the same, have the initiative of changing things that we don't like", mentioned the student.

In an interview mentioned that throughout the year they have given, through the Direction of Student Development, medical aid with the support of nurses, nutritional support by collecting groceries for the community "El Cuervo", in the Sierra of Santa Rosa, where they also have activities in favor of a culture of peace, such as the values workshop focuses on the youngest sector of the place.

Another action was the training granted to UG students with the workshop Alternate Mechanisms to Solve Controversies, with the purpose to encourage the solution of conflicts in a harmonic and peaceful way, the knowledge obtained were applied in the community "El Cuervo".

"To help people, first you must know their needs", explained the young student, who mentioned that currently they have 50 volunteers who seek to contribute new ideas in pro of the society and follow up the projects in other communities in the Sierra of Santa Rosa, such as Cuervito, Chocolate, San José del Gacho and the Rosal.

The next plan of "Altruism UG" is to present a project to use rainwater, as mentioned by the student Frida García Canelo, who added that with the support of the engineering and architecture students, they'll give a workshop to explain the inhabitants of Santa Rosa how to create this infrastructure in an easy and non-expensive way, plus how to maintain it, so it can help in drought season and improve their economy.

Stephani Lara, a student of Public Administration and coordinator of the "Altruism UG" program, of the Division of Law, Politics and Government at UG, exhorted her peers to join this project to generate a social impact.
