Guanajuato, Gto., April 12, 2018.- Three young students of Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato were selected through the summon organized by "Mar Adentro de México AC" to participate in the CSW 62, the commission about the legal and social status of women organized by UN Women and UNESCO (United Nations Economic and Social Council).

The Commission of the Legal and Social Status of the Women is the main international government organ dedicated exclusively to promote gender equality and empowerment of women.

At UN in New York, the students Karina Rioyos, Luis Negrete and Antonio Canchola had the opportunity to be part of the different activities for the discussion about the problems and progress of women in the world.

The students highlighted the attendance to the permanent mission of Mexico before UN, where they understood the work the Mexican diplomats do to reach international agreements. In addition of the reunion they held with the Director of objectives of Sustainable Development of the 2030 Agenda, where they recognized the role of the youth, civil society and states to reduce the inequality gaps around the world.

The 2030 Agenda contains 17 universal application objectives that must reign the efforts of the countries to reach a sustainable world; among the social needs that must be addressed are, education, health, social protection and employment opportunities, at the same time they fight against the climate change and promote the protection of the environment.

All this as their participation as representatives of the University of Guanajuato in the commission about the legal and social status of women organized by UN Women in the city New York from March 9 to 15.

Currently the students began a project in which they seek to diminish the gender equality gap through education, technology, research and debate; hence, they are looking strategic allies, organized groups, governmental institutions, educative institutions and supported by the University of Guanajuato to contribute something significant to society.

To finalize they made an invitation to the student community in high school and college to participate in the Debate Team of the University of Guanajuato (EDUG), wit the objective gain new members, encourage dialogue, free expression of the research ideas and know tools that allow them to be aware citizens.
