
Guanajuato, Gto., April 13, 2018.- The University of Guanajuato currently has 91 postgraduates from which 40 belong to Campus Guanajuato and a large percentage of these are inscribed to the National Program of Quality Postgraduates (PNPC) from the National Council for Science and Technology (Conacyt).
At a press conference, the postgraduate coordinators of Architecture, Arts, Astrophysics and Regional Urban Planning showed their academic offer since their enrollment summons are now open.
At the beginning, the Coordinator of the Interinstitutional Doctorate Program in Architecture, Dr. Brigitte Lamy, spoke about this international competence program. She mentioned that by being interinstitutional it is done at the same time with the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, the Universidad Autónoma de Colima and the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, and the program is enrolled in the PNPC from Conacyt and the Department of Public Education (SEP). The doctorate is taught as a tutorial every semester in a classroom, then there are research seminars in several venues.
The objective of this educational program is original research, as well as analysis, design and programming of proposals related with the anthropic intervention about the territory, the city and the production, transformation and urban-architectonic conservation. Dr. Lamy explained that this doctorate "is the only program in the country with these characteristics".
Dr. Mauricio Velasco Ávalos, Coordinator of the Master's in Regional Urban Planning mentioned that the purpose of the program is to form highly trained professionals in the urban planning and sustainable territorial ordinance fields. It is a classroom program with a four-semester plan and a total of 112 credits. Their research lines are: Architecture and city, Architecture and heritage, Architecture and Environment.
Likewise, some aspects of the postgraduate in Arts were explained; for example, it has two programs: master's and a doctorate. His coordinator, Lic. Carlos Jasso Martínez, mentioned that this educational offer has the objective to forms professionals in the field of arts, so they can participate in the elaboration of theoretical and applied solutions for cultural industries and their environment.
Both the master's and doctorate in Arts are aimed for researchers and creators who seeks to update, specialize and enrich their praxis through multi, inter and transdisciplinary interaction.
To finalize, the Coordinator of the postgraduate in Astrophysics, Dr. César Augusto Caretta; expressed that the postgraduate also has two programs: the master's in astrophysics (sciences) and the doctorate in astrophysics (Science).
These programs are conducted by the staff of the Department of Astronomy, installed in UG's venue Valenciana. All 14 professors in the staff, are specialists in the area; they have the highest academic grade: 13 are SNI members (levels I to III).
The scholars of the postgraduate in Astrophysics are organized in academic bodies that have to do with Extragalactic Astrophysics, Stellar Physics, Radio astronomy, Computational Astrophysics, Astrobiology, among other topics.
