Irapuato, Gto., April 20, 2018.- To improve the technical quality of the veterinarians and encourage the use of practical clinical tools, students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) took the workshop about "Hematology for Veterinarians" in sheep, cattle, fish and birds.

The workshop was held in the Division of Life Sciences of Campus Irapuato—Salamanca with the participation of professors of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, and the special guest, with a broad experience in Cytopathology, participated the M. Julio César Osorio Baños, a doctorate student of Veterinary Pathology of the Universidad Autónoma de México, with 10+ years of experience in veterinary cancerology.

51 students from different levels from the educational program of Veterinary Medicine attended the course and Zootechny attended the course; they satisfactorily concluded and passed their practice that had six hematology workshops, 16 clinical cases and 8 seminars with select topics related with hematology, draw, handling, conservation of the blood and serums in the mentioned above species.

They also learned to identify the problems of the most common illnesses that can be diagnosed with veterinary cytopathology with the tools learned in three work days.

The workshop had the participation of the professors Elena Franco Robles, Diana Angélica Gutiérrez Arenas, Mauricio Arredondo Castro, Gilberto Parra Acevedo, Alejandro Moisés Ángeles Navarro, José Luis Tafoya, Aarón Hernández Rangel, Pedro J. Albertos, Abner Gutiérrez Chávez, Sergio López Briones & Fidel Ávila Ramos, as the event coordinator by the University of Guanajuato.

This activity was organized through the Coordination of Continuous Education, a program directed by Dr. José Antonio Marín Hernández.
