Celaya, Gto., April 26, 2018.- The representative team of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra in the sports discipline of Flag football, traveled to the city of Cancún, Quintana Roo, to participate in the International Cancún Bowl Tournament.

The team formed by eight female players and 2 coaches will compete for the gold medal on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, where they'll against teams from United States, Honduras, Guatemala and competitors who represent other entities from our country.

Flag football, best known in Mexico as "Tochito", is a variation of the American Football without tackling, meaning, no impacts that bring down the opponent, in its place, the defensive mode consists in grabbing from the rival one of the two ribbons or flags tied on both sides of the waist, explains Cony Labra Merino, the sports coordinator from the Student Development area in campus.

The female team that will represent Campus Celaya—Salvatierra in Cancún, even though is a recently created team, has already given good results by bringing home the bronze medal from the University Olympiads in 2017, reason why there are good expectations about their performance in this tournament where they'll go waist to waist with international teams.

The support and stimuli from the student community for the sport, selective and representative practice is one of the strategies proposed in the program for Student Development, within the Educational Model of the University of Guanajuato, and no matter what the result is, this experience will contribute to the comprehensive formation of the students, assured Carlos Ezequiel Téllez, head of the Coordination of Encouragement for the Comprehensive Development of the Student (CIDIE).

Before leaving, the young players showed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to attend the invitation they received for this sport competition, from which they expect to comeback with good results for their Alma Mater.
