Guanajuato, Gto., April 25, 2018.- Modern philosophy has taken the task to re-dimension the concept of peace, considering it as an element of growing importance after the development of war conflicts in the world such as world wars.

That is how Dr. Rodolfo Cortés del Moral explained it. The doctor is the Director of the Department of Philosophy at Campus Guanajuato, after mentioning that if in the history of philosophy, peace is not an area of study for this social science, "philosophy has addressed the topic implicitly and explicitly, both as an ideal, as well a substantial element off theories and conceptions of social reality".

Peace, he mentioned, has been addressed by Greek philosophers such as Plato who talked about assuring peace inside the cities, as well as the relationship between the states. "For the Greeks peace has its origin in nature, by considering it as the legitimate order not only of phenomena of life in general but the order of values of the own social reality."

Furthermore, he added, for medieval philosophy peace was cultivated in the relationship that the human order would maintain with the divine order, "so this was considered an inherent virtue to the creation of social order parting from the principles that gave account of God's will, this is, peace amongst men, would be cultivated in God's creation peace."

In this sense, Dr. Cortés del Moral mentioned that these concepts suffer modifications in the modern philosophy that re-dimensions the conception of peace, but gives them other fundaments both in the sovereignty as in the order of law and justice.

In modern times, he cleared, where peace is profiles as an element or topic of growing importance, for example, for a philosopher as Emmanuel Kant, "peace and its conditions is a topic that develops systematically and its social vision orients towards a cosmopolitan vision of the social order and peace is one of the crucial factors."

Then, after the first half of the XX century, peace becomes a recurrent topic that was ciphered by the development of the world wars, so it's a derivate of the social crisis that this becomes a priority topic of the social philosophy in any of its currents.

In this sense and facing the recent bombings weeks before in Syria from United States, United Kingdom and France, the Director of the Department of Philosophy, considered this fact reaffirms itself, "that the civilization has been able to mitigate the display or barbarism and becomes a crisis, the las conviction of the modernity about the faith in reason."

Far from the contemporary world to have left behind, at least in a palpable manner the barbarism, "the XX century is characterized by new ways of barbarism and this makes the result of wars more harsh."

For Cortés del Moral, the problem would have as first effect the need to re-evaluate the directions and actions of the contemporary rationality.

"Today we must recognize that the reason has become in a mean or an instrument of barbarism, of course, it would be both philosophical as extra philosophical, wrong and unjust to attribute the reason to this outcome, it would be recognizing that reason hasn't been capable of modifying the recessive interests in the contemporary society, which in the last instance moves us to the pessimism, where factors from different origin are present but are joined by other factors of interests from the great powers to make their values worth and handle their interests."
