Guanajuato, Gto., April 24, 2018.- With the purpose to encourage a culture of cleaning, social responsibility, ecology and preservation of the environment, the group "Limpiemos Guanajuato" was created and it is composed by the civil society of Guanajuato, as well as students of the University of Guanajuato (UG).

The group is led by the professor Elisa Jaime Rangel and one of its main objectives is to raise awareness by exercising the right of a healthy environment. Since last November, the group "Limpiemos Guanajuato" has dedicated to clean the streets and main monuments of the city.

Thanks to the social service, the UG students make several activities such as collective cleaning and create posters to encourage an awareness of taking care of the environment. The university community cleans the streets, that strategy is called "Plogging" and it was created by Swedish runners in 2016, a race where the only winner is the planet, the city and the environment.

This initiative has been replicated by UG students with a social and ecological mean. A race is just a non-competitive sport where the participants run, jog or walk through the city while they pick up garbage on benches, streets and parks. This will be done next Thursday April 26.

The actions that have been carried out by the members of "Limpiemos Guanajuato" correspond to the educational model of the University of Guanajuato, which makes the comprehensive formation of the students, including physical health, social responsibility, commitment with the environment and the conservation of the environment.

They expect that by taking international examples such as "Plogging" it then becomes a contribution at the same time that it creates awareness on preserving the environment and encourages the commitment and social responsibility of the student hood with the city and the community.

It should be mentioned that the students who are part of this initiative are equipped with gloves, bags, antibacterial gel, T-shirts and caps.
