Guanajuato, Gto., April 30, 2018.- Aware that safety is a fundamental topic in society and that the scientific and technological innovation can be a powerful and feasible tool to solve these problems, students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) encourage the first national hackathon in the institution, the "GuanaHacks 2018".
It is an event of technological development, that encourages multidisciplinarity and team work. They expect to gather around 300 students from different educational institutions of Guanajuato and other states in the country.
On the matter, Miguel Cuevas, a student of the degree in International Trade and one of the organizers of the event, explained that GuanaHacks will be held from May 18-20, at the venue Marfil of UG's Campus Guanajuato.
The theme of the gathering is safety, so nearly 50 multidisciplinary teams will be formed and will work together for 55 hours to develop projects that offer viable and innovative solutions to the issue.
To do so, they will have support from mentoring, workshops and conferences given by experts in the topic. This way, they'll have tools to perfect their idea, and go from the prototype to a business model.
The project is an initiative of the students and will be carried out with the support of the Direction of Student Development. GuanaHacks is an open platform for the young, "they can be the actors who propose solutions, guided and accompanied buy educational institutions and businesses that provide platforms to support them", mentioned Miguel Cuevas.
He added that the organizing team of GuanaHacks 2018 is comprised by students of the University of Guanajuato, represented by two organized groups of the Institution: Future Lab and Kaizen UG. In addition, they have the support from businesses and government organisms.
Miguel Cuevas mentioned that whoever is interested in participating as competitors in the GuanaHacks have until May 11 to register in https://futurelabmx.github.io/GuanaHacks/ or in the Fb profile GuanaHacks.
Also, the first day of activities will be Open day, to which whomever is interested can attend and know how a hackathon works and can be present in the workshops and conferences.
