Celaya, Gto., May 7, 2018.- Xóchitl Sakay Sánchez Cruz, a student of the degree in Clinical Psychology, competed in the "Universiada Nacional" held in the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, from where she came back with the bronze medal in Judo category 57kg.

This is the XXI "Universiada Nacional" held from April 23 to May 9; in it, participants from 26 sports disciplines such as rugby, soccer, softball, tae kwon do, tennis, touch football, triathlon, archery, weights, gymnastics, volleyball, soccer, etc.

The universities throughout the country sent their representative teams in each of the mentioned disciplines, who will be facing their equals hoping to get a position on the medal stand.

The "Universiada" is considered as the most important sport competition between higher education institutions in Mexico. For some, it was their first opportunity to be in a high-performance competition and for others, this time allowed to reinforce their sport formation, said Lic. Carlos Ezequiel Téllez, Coordinator of the Comprehensive Development of the Student.

At the competition, Xóchitl proved her character and talent, product of the discipline and previous work. Hence, the Campus Celaya-Salvatierra proudly welcomed back this young promise in the national sport, who outstood in the Judo discipline, category 57kg., obtaining the bronze medal.

The sport competition held on 2018, matches with the celebration of the 190th anniversary of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, so the celebration had a festive character.

The university stadium "Lic. Juan Josafat Pichardo Cruz", was the stage where the opening and welcome ceremony took place. The closing of the competition will be on May 9, 2018 at the university's gym "Lic. Adolfo López Mateos."
