León, Guanajuato a May 15, 2018.- Students of the Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG) sum, for the third consecutive year, to the project "Na´Valí Camp", where they attend children from migrant indigenous families that work as laborers harvesting chilli pepper, in the city of León.

The group of students is comprised by 20 young people from the educational programs in Nutrition, Psychology and Social Work who, through the Center for Indigenous Development Loyola A.C., they'll give attention to children from 0 to 14 years of ages in three areas: health, education and nutrition.

Their participation will begin from June 11 and it will last 5 weeks; this will be done in the communities of Barretos, Rancho San José de los Sapos and La Sandía.

Because of this, Sandra Balderas Ortega, who is responsible of the Social Service fir the degree in Nutrition, mentioned in an interview the importance of being in the project since several activities manage "to reduce the risks of morbidity and mortality, develop skills and knowledge of the children, same as monitoring their state of health and in case of being necessary, channel them to health centers".

She added that they are given breakfast and lunch to raise their nutritional state and the little ones are seen to, cleaned and stimulated.

She highlighted that last year, nearly 300 children attended, and they detected "malnourishment cases in different stages, diseases in their eyes; the most frequent is conjunctivitis, respiratory diseases and gastrointestinal diseases".

She mentioned that these communities suffer risks and causes due to the long work journeys, prolonged exposure to the sun, bug bites and dehydration.

On the other hand, the scholar of Campus León expressed her satisfaction for the effort done by the university community, as well as the response obtained in the permanent gathering campaign, with which they achieved a donation in species with items destined to children, besides gathering $20,000 MXN in benefit of the project "Na´Valí".
