Guanajuato, Gto., May 18, 2018.- From May 18 to 20, nearly 300 college students will gather in the University of Guanajuato (UG) to participate in the GuanaHacks 2018, an event where they'll work to develop technological tools to solve problems related with safety.
This activity is an initiative of UG's students, members of the organized groups "Future Lab" –a student laboratory of technology that seeks to accelerate the solution of problems using science and its applications—and "Kaizen UG", --who offers advisory and mentoring to college entrepreneurs—.
At the opening, the student Raymundo Díaz Espinoza, member of the GuanaHacks' organizing committee, explained that they have decided to take in their hands the problems that haunt the country, involving the technological development, the social awareness and entrepreneurship.
He explained that this is a hackathon that encourages the interdisciplinarity and teamwork, gathering for 55 hours to 300 people in the same space, who work in creating innovative and viable solutions towards security. Hence, they will offer tutoring, workshops and conferences taught by experts, with the premise that in this event, the youth is the main agent of change, prevention and action.
So, representing the student community, he thanked the support of the college authorities for allowing, encouraging and supporting them to make this dream come true, GuanaHacks is UG's first hackathon.
