estudiantes-de-campus-leon-presentan-investigaciones-en-torno-a-politicas-publicas-ug-ugtoLeón, Gto., May 31, 2018.- In order to present and evaluate the student projects carried out in the semester January-June 2018 of the course of analysis of public policies, the journeys of Public Policies and Finances were held in the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG).

For three days, sixth semester students of the educational program Political Science and Public Administration coordinated by Dr. Macarena Orozco Martínez, a professor of the Department of Social Studies, presented research focused on several problematic as the precarious working conditions of women in some micro-enterprises of the historical downtown of León, deficiencies, insecurity and harassment in public transport, environmental pollution, drug addiction, conditions of relatives of patients of the Regional High Specialty Hospital of the Bajio, among others.

Dr. Macarena Orozco Martínez commented that they have twelve different researches based on the methodology of the logical framework.

Mónica Chagoya Espinoza, a student of this degree, shared in an interview that this exercise allows "to know how the diagnosis is made to make a public policy, how the process is and how the evaluations are made".

During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Alex Caldera Ortega, Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, highlighted the contribution of the social sciences and students of this educational program for the analysis, improvement and evaluation of public policies.

He also mentioned the existence in the Campus León of the laboratory of Public Policy Analysis in which the Community of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities participates, where data is analyzed and social projects are involved.

On the other hand, Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro, Director of planning of the UG, mentioned that these days encourage the integral formation of the student to be able to share their experiences and to exchange ideas between professors for the creation of networks.

In turn, he said that the university itself within its institutional development plan (PLADI) takes into account aspects addressed in these journeys.

On behalf of Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of the León Campus, Dr. Lorena del Carmen Álvarez Castañón attended, who said that these days will be of intense work and learning for the student community.

During the Conference, specialists from the University of Guadalajara will be addressing topics on the development and management of state public budgets, the performance audits in Mexico and the evaluation of public policies in local governments.
