Guanajuato, Gto., June 3, 2018.- The oral litigation team of the University of Guanajuato continues to reap successes, this time, they were the champions of the fourth national contest of oral trial and preliminary hearings, edition México, in the city of Tijuana.
The competition is organized by the California Western School of law through "ACCESO Capacitación" and the "Center for Studies on the Teaching and learning of law". The contest was aimed at law students from all over the country in order to increase the number of lawyers qualified in the new criminal procedure.
At the same time, this initiative aims to improve knowledge in constitutional law, criminal law, criminal procedural law, litigation skills, as well as the effective application of these issues in the courts.
The Oral Litigation Team of the University of Guanajuato was crowned champion in the National mediation phase, so team members won a scholarship to participate in the "Academy of Litigation Skills" taught at California Western School of Law.
They will also have the opportunity to compete again in the competition called "Champion of Champions" that will take place on June 25th in the city of Washington, United States and in which they will face the team champion of the Marist University of Mérida. Similarly, the University of Guanajuato team won a scholarship to have their members study a master's degree in California Western School of Law.
During the contest they had the opportunity to compete in rounds of mediation, preliminary hearing and oral trial. Allegations were also carried out, precautionary measures, incidental hearings, etc., in the end the Oral litigation team of the University of Guanajuato was a prosecutor in a cyber-crime case.
It should be mentioned that students from universities in the states of Coahuila, Veracruz, Yucatán, Oaxaca, Nayarit, to name a few, participated in this competition. The best 16 teams in the country and the top 4 in each region were presented. With this competence, the students of the University of Guanajuato have shown that they have the necessary tools for this new way of practicing the profession of the lawyer.
