ug-firma-memorandum-de-entendimiento-universidad-arizona-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., June 1, 2018.- As part of the visit that the delegation of the University of Arizona, United States, chaired by Dr. Bruce Johnson, dean of the School of Education, conducted at the University of Guanajuato (UG), both institutions signed a memorandum of understanding, which aims to formalize the intense institutional academic collaboration that has been carried out for 33 years.

The event was chaired by the Academic Secretary of the UG, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo, who directed a welcome message to the delegation on behalf of the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, and emphasized the importance and the great significance that has for the university to sign this agreement with the prestigious institution.

Likewise, the Director of International Relations and Academic Collaboration of the UG, Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz, made a synthesis of the most important collaborative projects that have been carried out, among which the link in the program of Summer Research of both institutions.

Finally, Dr. Bruce Johnson, representing the president of the University of Arizona, Dr. Robert C. Robbins noted that for this institution, institutional collaboration with Mexican universities is of paramount importance, derived from the cultural link and that unites both countries. He assured the commitment of his institution to continue projects in the area of education.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Cesar Federico Macías Cervantes, Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Guanajuato Campus, as well as Dr. Renee Clift, Academic Secretary of the School of Education of the University of Arizona .

It should be noted that the University of Arizona is ranked among the best 100 institutions at the international level and place 75 in the area of natural sciences and mathematics, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities Shanghai 2017.
