Guanajuato, Gto., June 12, 2018.- Students from the University of Guanajuato (UG) made a project to benefit more than 4,000 people of the community "Lo De Juárez" with the architectonic remodeling of three common service areas that are disabled.

This initiative came from Dr. Fabiola Colmenero Fonseca, a professor at the university, who created and promoted the contest in the community "Lo De Juárez", in which different student teams to generate ideas about how to change and benefit such community in an economic and efficient way.

The objective of this contest, in its third edition, is to promote and stimulate the healthy competition among students, through exercises where they test the creative skills and knowledge of the student community, and so encourage the students to participate more.

"We bet for an inclusive society in all ways, integrating the society to collaborate and be part of the project", assured Dr. Fabiola Colmenero Fonseca.

The winning team is comprised by Paola Cristina Cruz García, Aleyda Cruz González, Lénika López Salgado and María Irene Salazar Rodríguez, students in the sixth semester of architecture, who made a project where they redesigned three places of the community, a plaza, a playground and basketball court; meaning social gathering sports to use the spaces in a healthy and recreative way.

The winning project will be financed and carried out by the authorities of this community in an efficient way since the design was based in the place's natural, social and economic resources.

The second place was obtained by Valentín Espinoza Camacho, Ivy Gabriela Martínez Ramírez, José Félix Romo Rodríguez and Alma Julieta Zendejas Venegas; while the third place was for the team composed by Laura Fernanda Ávalos Piñón, Stephania Gómez Carrillo, María Isabel Navarro Velázquez and Nancy Magdalena Suárez Alvarado.

We must say that the work from the participants were qualified by the design strategy, the correct selection of vegetation, and had to fulfill the basic needs of the community, consider the environment, their characteristics and values.
