Guanajuato, Gto., June 26. 2018.- The Oral Litigation team of the University of Guanajuato (UG) won the runner-up cup in the competition called "Champ of Champs" which was held in the city of Washington, USA.

This university team has been successful throughout the year, to reach the competition in US, previously, they were champions of the Fourth National Contests of Oral Trial and Preliminary Hearings, Mexico Edition, in the city of Tijuana.

In Washington, UG's team faced the champion team of the Universidad Marista de Mérida, Yucatán. In an interview, the advisor of UG's team, Juan Carlos Páramo said to be proud for the achievement of the students and specially wanted to thank the parents, who have been a pillar in their professional development.

Likewise, he thanked the support from the university authorities, from the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, and from the Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera.

In addition, he highlighted that UG's oral litigation team has participated in the competition three times out of four editions and the three times they have won a championship, and now a sub-championship.

Worthy to mention that the competition is organized by the California Western School of Law through ACCESO Training and the Center of Studies about Teaching and learning of Law. The contest was aimed for law students from all over the country with the purpose to increase the number of certified lawyers in the new criminal procedure.

For the rest of the week, the oral litigation team will be making a practice trip to different places such as UN, FBI, UNICEF, among others.

The students who currently form the Oral Litigation team are: Nadia Hernández Guerrero, Javier Alejandro Suárez Paredes, Jorge Alfredo Ramírez Ibarra and Samuel Vargas Arenas.
