León, Gto., June 29, 2018.- Damaris Juárez Bendito and Marco Antonio Rodríguez Torres, both graduates from Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG) worked together to provide attention to the children of migrant families that live in vulnerable conditions.

Damaris Juárez Bendito is a graduate from the degree in Psychology and has been working as an Operational Coordinator of the Center of Indigenous Development Loyola (CDIL) for eight years, place where Marco Antonio Rodríguez Torres works as coordinator of the field to apply his knowledge as a graduate from Social Anthropology.

Currently, Damaris and Marco have activities in the project "Na ´Vali" where they sum efforts from UG students, as well as volunteers that visit the crops to support the migrant families that come from the state of Guerrero, that come to León to work as laborers in harvesting chilli in their communities.

Damaris' trajectory soared in 2016 as being part of a group of researchers that obtained the first place of the State Award to Research in Social and Human Development because of his work called "Niños y niñas jornaleros agrícolas indígenas migrantes en León, Gto. Pautas para una acción pública desde la experiencia de los campamentos Na´Valí".

This award was given by the State and recognized the research made in social and human development for the state of Guanajuato in monitoring, evaluating and designing public policies.

The report of research tells the work done in the CDIL in the "Na´Vali" fields where they gave attention to children in matters of education, nourishment and health.

"The work we are doing is as a team, it means, different universities and different degrees are grouped with the same purpose which is to attend the children in these three areas", said Damaris Juárez in an interview.

She said that the vulnerability conditions of the families are very high since their houses present a high index of overcrowding, "don't have the basic services, so the vulnerability risk increases, and the health conditions are precarious".

On his behalf, Marco Antonio mentioned that since 2014 he had his first contact with the project and being close to the families let him identify the context they live in, understand the cultural differences, the role of men and women, the community organization, heritage festivities, family economy, know who the active members are and have information to understand the situation and generate actions that are adequate to their needs.

About the minors, he said that "they are strong, independent, autonomous children that of course lack somethings, are vulnerable in different ambient, many of their rights are violated."

At the same time, he coordinates a group of volunteers to provide attention, in addition of generating didactic materials with which the reading-writing activities are made, as well as in mathematical logic, language, environment and anatomy.
