
Guanajuato, Gto., July 2, 2018.- Members of the Social Service Network of the West Center Region of the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES) gathered with the purpose to promote the social service in benefit of the community.
During the LVI Ordinary Meeting of ANUIES' Social Service Network, they analyzed carrying on joint social projects, training activities, generate information for decision making, as well as to have a platform in which they expose the trends to improve the social service in the region.
Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo, Academic Secretary of the University of Guanajuato (UG), welcomed the network to the reunion. He assured that one of the institutional plans is to assume the challenges regarding the reach of social service. Lic. Cesar Patlán Espinoza, responsible of the Social Service and Professional Practices Department, of the College Social Responsibility Unit of UG, mentioned that this good practice space allows to generate new elements that help different universities to improve in the social service area.
He added that this is an institutional plan to assume on the challenges regarding social service because the college students are part of the solution to social problems in different areas when they participate in multidisciplinary spaces, a task that favors the different educational programs offered by UG.
It is important to mention that the UG besides the students do their social service in companies or institutions, this area's coordination supports student projects as another social service option, which is done in an arduous and responsible way from who is part of them.
Such is the case of the two projects that were presented during this session, the first, from Dr. Martha Ríos, a professor at the Division of Social and Administrative Sciences and the student María Rosalba Olvera Rodríguez, from Campus Celaya-Salvatierra with the "Proyecto Interdisciplinario de Asesoría, Administrativa de la Micro, Pequeña y Mediana Empresa de la Región."
Followed by the "Proyecto Embajadores en Educación Financiera" presented by Lic. Octavio Salazar González and the student Marcos Jesús Flores Ramírez, from the same campus.
These were chosen because they have shown long term progress and the role of the professor and the student are very important since they complete get involved with their projects, benefiting people from different communities with different training in the financial ambience.
Finally, during this session the Social Service Coordination of the University of Guanajuato, whose responsible is Cesar Patlán Espinoza, was selected to be the Coordination of RCO-ANUIES' Social Service Network.
It is important to mention that RCO's social service network is comprised by the states of Aguascalientes, Colima, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán & Nayarit. The institutions who are officially represented in each one of the participants of this network, can be either public or private, as university or technologic, but all cover what is established in the guidelines that rule the social service in Mexico.
Since 2005, this coordination is part of a support structure for ANUIES to achieve their objectives. The collaborative work by regions and diverse venues, compose an order in the universe of planning that the higher and technological educations institutions must contribute.
