ug-lista-para-la-46-edicion-del-fic-ugto1 Guanajuato, Gto., July 10, 2018.- As is tradition, the University of Guanajuato (UG) will participate in the 46 edition of the International Festival Cervantino (FIC) with artistic presentations, film projections, exhibitions and academic activities.

For this edition the educational institution will collaborate with 25 university spaces as Headquarters and 72 projections and events carried out by the University of Guanajuato. The Cervantino international Festival will take place from October 10 to 28 and will have as guests of honor to India and the state of Aguascalientes.

Under the slogan "The Future is today", Guanajuato will receive a significant number of international groups from different latitudes as well as national artists who endow a great cultural value with the programming of the "Festival of the Spirit".

The President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino stressed that the FIC rescues the legacy of Cervantes through various artistic expressions. It also made relevance in that this edition commemorate 65 years of the staging of the "hors d'oeuvres" of Cervantes, a fact that gave rise to what today is the international Festival Cervantino, one of the most important in the world.

He noted that India shares ethnic and cultural diversity with Mexico, "We receive India with its linguistic diversity, with all its worlds, synthesis of antiquity and with a high scientific development." He recalled that the University of Guanajuato develops academic activities in collaboration with India because the House of studies has agreements with different universities of that country and at the same time makes exchanges of student mobility.

Similarly, he mentioned the brotherhood that Guanajuato has with Aguascalientes and recognized his outstanding work in various artistic disciplines such as painting, printmaking and sculpture. Finally, he distinguished that the University of Guanajuato will participate with more than 400 people among artists and technical support staff and invited both the university community and the general public to join the spiritual festival that evokes the unavoidable force of art and culture.

The Teatro Juárez was the scene in which the FIC 2018 program was presented in which the University of Guanajuato will have a strong presence with its artistic groups. The symphony Orchestra of the University of Guanajuato will offer two concerts; UG's folkloric Ballet will provide a special presentation for the festival; The University theatre will have eight functions; The Cine Club will feature 7 film cycles, 46 functions and 7 commented projections.

In the art spaces of the University of Guanajuato there will be 5 exhibitions and 2 lectures and the arts company of the Campus Guanajuato has a presentation.

During the presentation of the program, the governor of the state of Guanajuato, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez said that Guanajuato is ready to receive all the artists from 35 countries that will participate in the FIC. He mentioned that for 19 days Guanajuato will be the scene of one of the most important festivals in Latin America, which will receive the millenary culture of India and the various artistic expressions of Aguascalientes.

For his part, the director General of FIC, Marcela Diez Martínez said that this Festival is a cultural project that requires a superlative effort because it resides its artistic programming.

The event was attended by: the Indian Ambassador to Mexico, H.E. Mr. Shri Muktesh K. Pardeshi; The mayor of Guanajuato, Lic. Edgar Castro Cerrillo; The governor of the state of Aguascalientes, Mr. Martín Orozco Sandoval; And the Secretary of Culture, Ms. Ma. Cristina García Cepeda.
