Guanajuato, Gto., July 9, 2018.- The staff of the Institutional Gender Equality Program at the University of Guanajuato gave a training to incorporate the gender perspective into a group of concessionaires and drivers belonging to the section V "CROC Bajio" union.

The main objective of the training, aimed at a group of taxi drivers from the municipality of Guanajuato Capital, was to incorporate the gender perspective within the area that includes the service providers of rent-to-door type transfers, known as taxi drivers, because of the importance that this guild represents for student mobility and society in general within the municipality.

Through the ecosystem of liaison, innovation, development and application of knowledge of the University of Guanajuato (VIDA UG) requested the support of the University of Guanajuato for this purpose, articulating and developing the activity with staff Specialized in the Gender Equality Program of the entity's university.

The equality training is part of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), which, in its objective 5 of sustainable development, stresses that "it has been demonstrated over and over again that empowering women and girls has a multiplier effect and helps to promote economic growth and development "in the world.

This activity was derived from the concern of the section V Union of the CROC Bajio for offering a better service to its users on the topic of gender equality.

The training was conducted over a period of two weeks, serving two topics per week to a total of seventeen concessionaires belonging to the CROC Bajio. The themes developed in each session were the following: sex-gender system; prejudices, stereotypes and discrimination; harassment; and they closed with the subject of masculinities.

The participants of the training expressed their complete satisfaction with the subjects developed, as well as their intention to participate in all those activities that the University of Guanajuato can provide to them. In addition to the above, the participants of the section V "CROC Bajio union commented that they will seek the support of ecosystem VIDA UG for their advice and accompaniment in various topics and projects that are being raised internally in the union.
