Guanajuato, Gto., July 9, 2018.- The University of Guanajuato hosted the fourth National Debate Championship held during a week in which teams from different public and private universities participated.

This event is the country's highest debate competition under the format of the British Parliament and is sanctioned by the Mexican Debate Association (AMD). The IV edition of the National Debate Championship (CND) was held from July 1 to 8, 2018 and also was headquartered at the Universidad Iberoamericana Campus León.

During the closing ceremony, M. Cecilia Lucía González Martínez, coordinator of student impulse representing the Rector General of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino gave a message in which she spoke about the importance of the debate, since it is an act of communication that advocates solid arguments to reach an agreement.

M. González Martínez mentioned that in this national championship a diversity of teams representing different universities was quoted. She congratulated and thanked the commitment of the debating team of the University of Guanajuato who served as organizers and received 200 participants from the swings and judges from 21 universities across the country.

The president of the Mexican Debate Association, Lic. David Alatorre López said that the debate is an exercise that provides multiple benefits to improve professional skills. He also stressed that it is an action that denotes the power of persuasion, which is why he invited to develop it responsibly.

It should be mentioned that the main objective of the IV National Debate Championship is to expand exponentially the culture of debate in areas of the country where there are still no consolidated groups that practice it. At the closing of the event were named winners of Best speakers, best speeches and the prize of judges.

The fourth edition of the national championship of debate is the anteroom of the world Championship of debate that will take place in Chile and in which the University of Guanajuato will have presence.
