Guanajuato, Gto., August 7, 2018.- University authorities inaugurated the first stage of the Laboratory Tower of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences of Campus Guanajuato, as well as a classroom building with the purpose to offer better spaces for the academic performance and research, plus linking knowledge with society.
The President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino mentioned that the inauguration of these two college spaces is the result of a collective effort because it requires the work of the university community to negotiate resources with the intention to build facilities that contribute in an optimal academic development.
The Laboratory Tower is a 4-story building with 51 cubicles, 6 laboratories and meeting rooms, among other features that will allow the performance of the university community in benefit of the generation and divulgation of the scientific knowledge. This Lab Tower has a 60 million pesos investment.
On the other hand, the classroom building has 3 stories and is composed by 10 classrooms, 4 of them with two-floors, plus it has a reading area, stairs, elevators and bathrooms with an investment of 15 million pesos.
The Director of Infrastructure and College Services, M. Eloy Juárez Sandoval indicated that this first stage of the Laboratory Tower and the Classroom Building will offer service to 600 bachelor's students and 100 more for postgraduates. It will also hold 51 professors who will occupy the new cubicles.
He mentioned that the infrastructure that was inaugurated will benefit the educational programs of the degrees in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemist Pharmacist Biologist and Experimental Biology.
The Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera remarked the commitment of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences with the academic development and the scientific knowledge, hence, she mentioned that the Lab Tower as the Classroom Building will contribute to the university community because 400 students will be taking class simultaneously.
To finalize the Director of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences, Dr. Agustín Ramón Uribe Ramírez said that the inauguration of these spaces represents a new stage in the academic life of the University of Guanajuato and allows to promote changes so, through the scientific knowledge, a better future will be set. He mentioned that the laboratories will be used for the development of four main areas: organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, experimentation o physics chemistry and science of the materials.
He said that the new facilities will allow to diversify the educational offer and improve the quality standards for both the bachelor's and postgraduates.
