Guanajuato, Gto., August 22, 2018.- Attending an initiative of the President of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Dr. Enrique Graue Wiechers, the president-elect of Mexico, Lic. Andrés Manuel López Obrador, received the document "Towards the consolidation and development of public policies in Science, technology and innovation, strategic objective for a policy of state 2018-2024 ", act in which the President of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, participated.

In a ceremony that took place at the Mining palace in Mexico City, the President-elect heard the positions of eleven academics and directors of universities and research centers, including the President of the University of Guanajuato, who He explained the "Decentralization of science, technology and innovation.

Dr. Guerrero Agripino considered it essential to strengthen regional development integrally, promoting balances based on the recognition of regional vocations, needs and strengths.

It also stressed that it is necessary to update the normative framework on science, technology and innovation in states and municipalities, in order to promote a policy of deconcentration. He also spoke of the establishment of strategic alliances involving the private sector and organized society.

The question is that the standard facilitates and does not inhibit the competitive development in CTI; But also to define priorities and recognize regional capacities and developments; Taking advantage of its geographical location and interculturality. In a country vision, said Dr. Guerrero, the regions do not compete with each other, but they complement each other.

The document given to Lic. López Obrador constitutes a proposal of national agenda in Science, Technology and Innovation (CTI) for the next federal administration, was prepared by members of the UNAM, with the collaboration of other 67 universities and centers of research, as well as academies of science and technology. The purpose is to initiate the consolidation of a State policy in these areas.

"Towards the consolidation and development of public policies in science, technology and innovation, strategic objective for a policy of state 2018-2024", began to be developed in November of last year, and collected the proposals obtained in round tables with specialists.

In presenting the document, Dr. Enrique Graue endorsed the commitment of the academic sector to the development of the country, and thanked the disposition of the President-elect of Mexico to listen to those who represent the main institutions of public and private higher education of the country; scientists, members of academies of science and the business sector.

In addition to Dr. Guerrero Agripino, the president of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, Dr. José Luis Morán, presented proposals; Dr. William Lee Alardin, coordinator of scientific research at UNAM; Dr. Luis Foncerrada Pascal, Director-General of the Centre for Economic Studies of the private Sector; Eng. Guillermo Funes Rodríguez, president of the Mexican Association of Applied Research and technological development executives; and Dr. Silvia Giorguli Saucedo, president of the College of Mexico.

Also, Dr. José mustere de León, Director General of the Center for Research and Advanced studies of the IPN; Dr. Rosaura Ruiz, member of the UNAM Governing Board; Dr. José Franco López, General coordinator of the Consultative, Scientific and Technological Forum; and Dr. Sergio López Ayllón, Director General of the Center for Economic Research and teaching.

After listening to the experts, the President-elect of the United Mexican States thanked the invitation to listen to these approaches and offered to take into account the document in the elaboration of the national development Plan.
