The organism integrates higher education institutions that are distinguished by their quality and high-performance indexes.

Guanajuato, Gto., August 27, 2018.- Next August 31st, during the first session of the Council of Rectors of the Consortium of Mexican Universities (Cumex), the entry of the University of Guanajuato (UG) to such organism will be proposed.

UG's interest to entering the consortium is relies on the possibility to participate in the strategic programs of academic collaboration promoted by Cumex, who completely match the institutional priorities projected as a vanguard university.

To value the suitability requirements, Cumex formed an Evaluation Commission to determine if the University of Guanajuato satisfactorily fulfills the requirements of qualitative nature, which make evident the institutional conditions to improve the indicators.

In a meeting held in the University of Guanajuato, the members of the Evaluation Commission established as a unique dictation, the following: "The University of Guanajuato satisfactorily fulfills the entry indicators to Cumex; therefore, according the procedure of entry of an institution to the consortium, requests that this dictation must be presented to the Cumex's Council of Rectors to do as established by its statute."

For the consortium is important that the member institutions must fulfill, just to mention some criteria: Have a minimum of 50% of the full-time faculty with a postgraduate; that 50% of the postgrad programs are acknowledged in the National Census of Quality Postgraduates from CONACYT; sum the 65% of Consolidated Academic Bodies and in consolidation; be included in the National Registry of Institutions and Scientific and Technological Companies (RENIECyT).

During the meeting, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, emphasized that the evaluation was an area of opportunity to establish and generate actions to locate all those academic bodies, so they can exist and strengthen each area.

At the same time, he remarked that this is the achievement of a university community that has given continuity to the corresponding labors and acknowledged the work of the former presidents.

Also, he mentioned that universities can be autonomous, but not self-sufficient, and the autonomy is executed best once it is acknowledged that it is indispensable to sum efforts with sister institutions. "We are institutions in a permanent learning process", considered, UG's President.

The reading of the dictum was made by Dr. Rafael Campos Enríquez, Institutinal Representative of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, where he summed up that the evaluation consisted in the visit of two university venues: Campus León and Campus Guanajuato, as well as a closing meeting with the President.

He referred that, in the venue of Campus León, they held meetings with students and professors, to dialogue with the members of the university community about the progress in educational quality, teaching and integral formation. The Tower VIDA UG was also visited, where the host was Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of Campus León.

Regarding Campus Guanajuato, the evaluators dialogued with the Rector of Campus, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, about the institutional strategies for the consolidation of the indicators of academic capacity and competitivity.

The Evaluation Commission was formed by Dr. Francisco Javier Avelar González, President of the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes; Dr. Medardo Serna González, President of the Universidad Michoacana of San Nicolás de Hidalgo; M. Víctor Manuel Abarca Ramírez, General Academic Coordinator of Cumex; Dr. Rafael Campos Enríquez, Institutional Representative of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla; Dr. Martina Elizabeth Leal Apaez, Institutional Coordinator of Strategic Planning of the Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala; and Dr. Arely Almazán Adame, General Coordinator of Planning and Institutional Evaluation of the Universidad Autónoma de Guerrero.

The session of the Council of Rectors of Cumex will be held in the Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas; in Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas.
