comienza-60-feria-del-libro-de-la-ug-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., August 30, 2018.- With the award of the Jorge Ibargüengoitia Prize of literature to the writer Juan Villoro began the activities of the 60 Book Fair and University Cultural Festival of the University of Guanajuato (UG), which will last until next Sunday 9 September.

At the opening ceremony the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino presented the award to Juan Villoro renowned for his literary career. It should be noted that this award is awarded for the first time as part of the celebration for the commemoration of the 90 years of birth of the writer Guanajuato, Jorge Ibargüengoitia.

Dr. Guerrero Agripino mentioned that Juan Villoro "has the ability to make literary expression a transcendence of the instant approximation, approach in a simple way to the depth and make the everyday become extraordinary." He highlighted the work that Juan Villoro has done as a writer in various facets: playwright, essayist, storyteller, novelist, without forgetting the chronicle, genre for which he was awarded.

The President of the University of Guanajuato congratulated the winner and recalled a quotation from Sartre, a French philosopher who defined the figure of the writer as a critical conscience for society.

Similarly, he referred to the book Fair of the UG as an institutional effort that turns 60 years for what he made mention of its founder, "a significant date in which we also remember M. Eugenio Trueba Olivares, who was Rector of UG and who converted it more than a study center in a cultural project for the state of Guanajuato. "

Upon receiving the Jorge Ibargüengoitia Prize for Literature, the writer Juan Villoro read a text titled "The Altarpiece of Wonders" in which he described Jorge Ibargüengoitia as one of the most peculiar voices of the Mexican Chronicle because in these "distorts the real to make him a comedian. " He mentioned that Ibargüengoitia is one of the most read writers of the country since through the "simplicity of its narrative processes explores the absurd stimulators of the everyday". He recalled when his father, the sharp and writer Luis Villoro worked as a professor at the University of Guanajuato and expressed that it is a fortuitous coincidence that he now receives an award from the educational institution.

The writer Jorge F. Hernández was in charge of making a sketch of the work of Juan Villoro and with a peculiar sense of humour took a tour of the writer's career, in which he indicated that he is the first graduate of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana to receive the doctorate honoris causa by the same institution, besides having several literary prizes and above all distinguished his work as a chronicler.

Representing the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México --university invited to the 60 book fair-- M. Joaquín Diez-Caneda Flores, General Director of publications and editorial promotion of this institution thanked the University of Guanajuato for its deference and urged the whole community to participate in the activities that are integrated by dance, music, Theatre, in addition to various editorial presentations and discussion tables.

On the other hand, the coordinator of the editorial program of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Elba Margarita Sánchez Rolón spoke about some relevant aspects of the programming as the pictorial exhibition of the artist Joy la Ville and the editorial presentation of the Collections of the University of Guanajuato: "Classics UG" and "Editorial fund".
