This research topic is the result of eight years of joint work with academics of the Department of Occupational Health of the aforementioned university and of the intervention of both researchers and undergraduate and postgraduate students of the UG.

In this sense, Dr. Jiménez Garza, attached to the Department of Nursing and Obstetrics at the Campus León, commented on the importance of the research carried out, since with different techniques of DNA methylation, exposure levels can be determined to different compounds, that being in contact with the human being cause health damage.

Such is the case of benzene, which is found in petroleum derivatives, such as gasoline, and is one of the most widely used chemicals in the industry, as well as ethylbenzene, which is used to produce paints, varnishes, tobacco products and products for Cars.

The studies carried out by the investigator have allowed to evaluate the health risks of people who work in the shoe industry and petrol dispensers to determine how much of these hematotoxic compounds have been absorbed by the body, which in the long term may cause blood cell cancer; ocular irritation, central nervous system and respiratory diseases.

It should be noted that the results of this research and its perspectives will also be addressed during the Third International Environmental Health Meeting to be held in November of this year in Strasbourg, France.

In this way it seeks to strengthen collaborative networks in lines of knowledge generation on Labour toxicology, with a reference in the subject, Dr. Lode Godderis of the Catholic University of Leuven.

On the other hand, during the XVI Pan American Symposium on Nursing Research organized by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr. Jiménez Garza will address aspects of environmental toxicology in which the role of the Nursing professionals and the panorama of the environmental problems that have been detected in Latin America and the affections in the health, product of the pollution of the water, the soil, air and the food.

This great event will be held in the month of November in Cuba.
