
San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chis., August 31, 2018.- Within the framework of the 1st Extraordinary session 2018 of the Council of Rectors, the University of Guanajuato (UG) was admitted to the consortium of Mexican Universities (CUMEX), an organ that integrates more than 30 institutions that work together for the quality of higher education.
During the session, the Council of Rectors endorsed the opinion in which the evaluators indicated that the University of Guanajuato complies satisfactorily with the indicators of entry to the CUMex. This, after the conditions and requirements for suitability were reviewed during a visit to the institution; The school's infrastructure and equipment were monitored and interviews were conducted with students and academics.
After taking protest as a member of the CUMex, the President UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, said that this consortium is a promoter and guarantor of the quality of higher education in Mexico, "competitive and committed".
He recalled that being part of this organism was an institutional aspiration for more than 10 years, so this day, in which it acquires the quality of associate University, is of great transcendence for the University of Guanajuato.
Dr. Guerrero Agripino stressed that entry into the CUMex is not only a recognition of achievements and advances, but a commitment to continuous improvement. Speaking of the challenges presented to the UG, he explained that we work on strategic projects to increase tuition with quality and equity, such as the offer of multi-campus educational programs and multimodal systems, which allow to grow and diversify the enrollment using technology.
At the end of his message, he reiterated his gratitude for the vote of confidence that the consortium of Mexican universities gave to the University of Guanajuato, and stated that the best way to express gratitude is to work to strengthen the institution, the State and Mexico.
CUMex constitutes a common space of quality higher education, flexible and socially pertinent to face the great problems of Mexico and the challenges imposed by the globalization and the knowledge society in the 21st century. Thus, the admission of the UG will allow this institution to participate in the strategic programs of academic collaboration that the consortium promotes.
The meeting took place at the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas, where on 30th and 31st August, representatives of the institutions that comprised the CUMex were gathered.
