Salamanca, Gto., September 6, 2018.- Authorities of the University of Guanajuato (UG), delivered the mobile Laboratory of Energy Diagnostics and Thermal-Economical Optimization itself that will serve to evaluate and solve the problems of engineering of the industry at national level, and even international.

During the delivery ceremony, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, Rector General of the University of Guanajuato, stressed that this mobile laboratory is in accordance with the project of public policies in science, technology and research of UG, "the Universities we must strive more to generate projects that meet the priority needs of the country and the region "; To do so, he said, two actions must be carried out: link the projects within the institution and involve the students in them.

He used to announce that in a week will begin the construction of the multidisciplinary building at the headquarters of the Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, with an investment of 70 million pesos, another space where, he said, the university community can be formed and work on projects that also benefit the environment. In the first stage, a ground floor will be built to house 2 classrooms and 18 cubicles.

In his welcome message, Dr. Víctor Ayala Ramírez, Director of the engineering division, said that this unit joins the catalogue of resources available at the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus in terms of energy savings.

Dr. Alejandro Zaleta Aguilar, professor-researcher and head of the mobile laboratory explained that this unit will monitor and evaluate energy diagnostics, i.e. energy efficiency.

Many of the thermo-electric plants and refineries are in places far from the cities, so this mobile laboratory will be able to perform more efficiently the combustion analysis, thermodynamic properties, temperature-flow pressure, chromatographic analysis of fuels, the electrical energy with all its measurements, the water quality and its emissions, detailed.

He added that the laboratory will be used to offer courses to students to certify them as diagnostic evaluators and become promoters of this mobile unit.

Dr. Zaleta exemplified saying that all energy and natural resource optimization actions can benefit sustainability; For example, for an automotive company an hour in low production or an hour of inefficiency represents millions of pesos in fuel and tons of emissions, which can be avoided if an adequate diagnosis is made.

In his speech, the Rector of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz, congratulated the group headed by Dr. Alejandro Zaleta for the achievement achieved and invited the student community to participate in these projects that enhance the important work Which is carried out from UG for the benefit of society.

It should be noted that those who make up the Center of Advanced Engineering in Energy, Performance and Thermo-economic cost (INVERCOST), attached to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Division of Engineering of the Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, will be responsible for the work in the mobile lab.

A year ago, the ENAL group in partnership with the University of Guanajuato, through INVERCOST, won a 2 million-dollar prize from the World Bank to the Sustainable Energy Technologies Development project, which the Secretariat of Energy (SENER) drives together with the World Bank (WB) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to support a project that involves the installation of a geothermal plant.
