Salamanca, Gto, September 17, 2018.- Luis Martín González Vidal and Daniel Torres González, students of communications and electronics, will represent the University of Guanajuato (UG) at the 2018 IEEE Photonics Congress which will be held in the United States of America.
For their outstanding trajectory, students of the Division of Engineering (DICIS) were selected to attend, together with young people from 50 countries, the Congress of the Branch of Optics and telecommunications to be held from September 30 to October 4 in Reston, Va.
Their professor, Dr. Julián Moisés Estudillo Ayala sent a portrait of the outstanding students, being selected by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) in the Photonic branch, which will assign a scholarship for 2000 Dollars each by the "IEEE Photonics" agency, to attend the event called "2018 IEEE Photonics Conference" (IPC).
The importance of the participation of the students in the event lies in the topics of global reach that will be presented in the Congress in the area of the photonics such as: Nanophotonic, microwave micro photonics, nonlinear optics and ultrafast, optical communications, Integrated photonics, micro and Nano optical resonators, as some of the research topics developed and cultivated at DICIS by members of the academic body of telecommunications and photonics.
These activities seek to motivate more students to incorporate and develop in these new frontier areas in the knowledge of optical communications and in fiber optic sensors.
The professor recalled that the IEEE Photonics student chapter in the engineering division emerged in the year 2016 at the initiative of the professors of the consolidated academic body of telecommunications and photonic and this is the second year that its members apply for Attend.
This chapter has about 25 active members of undergraduate, master and doctorate who participate in different activities of diffusion of optics and photonics, showing experiments for students of different academic levels that they visit the laboratories of optical fibers and photonic, observe and interact with physical phenomena of optics and photonics and are interested in the area of engineering in communications and electronics, as well as other engineering of the division.
