Guanajuato, Gto. September 20, 2018.  The Advisory Council for the Care and Prevention of Gender-based Violence was formally installed at the University of Guanajuato, a body that will have the participation of specialists in gender issues.

One of the main functions of the Council will be to advise the executive authorities, the collegiate government bodies and the university administration on strategies, good practices and training for the prevention of gender-based violence and on institutional policies that favor their eradication, as well as promoting a university environment free of all kinds of gender-based violence.

In the same way, it will advise in the design, application and improvement of the institutional instruments in the matter and it will accompany to the respective instances in the relief of the processes that, according to the university norms, to relief the Commission of Honor and Justice of the General University Council on this subject.

During the installation session, led by the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, a commission was formed for the creation of two instruments: one to safeguard the rights of the victims of gender violence and the second, to promote good practice during the procedure of attention to the cases that are in progress, whose follow-up will continue October first.

The Advisory Council was integrated in the following way:

• M. Dulce Alejandra Camacho Ortiz, Professor of the Department of Law, Division de Law, Politics and Government, Campus Guanajuato
• Dr. Rosalía Carrillo Meráz, Executive Secretary of the National Observatory on Violence between Men and Women. Professor of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and the University of Guanajuato
• Lic. Verónica Cruz Sánchez, Director of the "Centro Las Libres A.C."
• Lic. Ramón Izaguirre Ojeda, Professor of the Department of Law, Division of Law, Politics and Government, Campus Guanajuato
• Dr. José Mendívil Macías Valadez, Professor of the Department of Philosophy, Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, Campus Guanajuato
• Lic. Norma Elena Nolasco Acosta, Director of the "Grupo Unido de Madres Solteras A.C."
• Dr. Ángela Quiroga Quiroga, National Commissioner to Prevent and Eradicate Violence Against Women, Secretaría de Gobernación
• Dr. Abril Guadalupe Saldaña Tejeda, Professor of the Department of Philosophy, Division of Social Sciences and Humanities del Campus Guanajuato

The members of the Consultative Council also agreed that the membership of the Commission of Honor and Justice of the General University Council must be trained for the treatment of cases with a gender perspective.

With these actions, the University of Guanajuato reiterates its commitment to eradicate, prevent, and, if necessary, punish any expression of violence in the university campuses.
