Guanajuato, Gto., September 28, 2018.- On behalf of the university community, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, Rector General of the University of Guanajuato (UG), gave a warm welcome to the participants of the work of the second edition of UGMUN (model of the United Nations for the University of Guanajuato), under the slogan "Breaking schemes, generating actions", to be held from 28 to 30 September.

With this initiative, the humanist vocation and the social commitment of this university is established, affirmed the President of the UG, who congratulated the student organizers and participants, and expressed the pride for what they do and represent.

It is worth mentioning that UGMUN is the official model of the UN for the University of Guanajuato, endorsed by this university and the United Nations Information Centre for Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. It was founded and is directed by students of the UG, being this factor the big difference to other models of Mexico and the world, since it gives them the capacity of high responsibility to the members of the organizing committee; It is one of the few models at national and international level that has no cost and is originally from a public institution.

"You make present that great powerful, pulsating, strong, resonator to detect all the vibrations that come from all latitudes," said Dr. Guerrero Agripino to the young students, for whom these days there will be a great work of dialogue, Reflection, development of skills and skills that are not always taught in the classroom: the ability to argue, work as a team, listen, and tolerate.

Immediately, Sergio Eduardo Montalvo, General Secretary of UGMUN, thanked the authorities for his presence and stressed that the young Guanajuatenses will bring their grain to society in this second edition full of great challenges, but it has the backing Decided by the University of Guanajuato and the Institute of Finance and Information for Education (Educafín).

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Juan Hernández, Secretary of the Migrant and international liaison, who invited the young people to propose solutions for the problems of our countrymen, and even revealed that he also studied in the classrooms of the UG a few decades ago.

Likewise, the General Director of Educafín, Eng. Jorge Enrique Hernández Meza, reiterated the commitment of the institution that represents, for the young entrepreneurs who are a pride for our entity.

This UGMUN model, seeks to encourage the youth population in general for their participation in current problems; to arouse interest in diplomacy and negotiation; make responsible and socially conscious citizens for the community at large; to have initiatives of change in their student and social community; to create good critical and professional citizens with ethics.

The committees that were opened in the second edition and that will be working this weekend are: General assembly; European Commission; UNICEF (United Nations International Emergency Fund for Children); DH (Human rights); Security Council; WHO (World Health Organization); OAS (Organization of American States); ECOSOC (Economic and Social Commission); UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and Chamber of Deputies.

They were also present at the opening ceremony, the M. José Osvaldo Chávez, Director of student development at UG; Lic. Reinaldo Granados, Student Development coordinator of the Guanajuato campus, representing Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendon Huerta, rector of the campus, and Luis Roberto González Santos del Muro, General secretary of UGMUN.
