
UG student promotes photographic record in health sciences
León, Gto., October 1, 2018.- Using photography as a resource to facilitate the work of health professionals, as well as communicating through the image is part of the work that has been done by Juliette Viridiana Villalobos Anaya, graduate of the degree of culture and art of the Universidad Guanajuato (UG) Campus León.
The result of this work was exhibited at the conference entitled "An approximation to the use of photography, as a diagnostic image in medicine" that took place at the San Carlos venue in Léon, which allowed students from the Division of Health Sciences to know the importance of making a photographic record.
During her speech, Juliette Villanueva commented on what represented for her the process of more than one year of the capturing photographs in public and private hospitals in which she witnessed 25 surgeries and made the record of the work of oncologists, traumatologists, gynecologists, surgeons, orthopedists and veterinarians since it considers important to have visual materials that serve to generate a database that documents the work of the professionals of these areas, in addition to facilitating the learning to Students and visually show the outcome of the interventions.
In this sense commented in an interview that "the value of an image is that the passage of time can be re-valued", besides that "is a way to give some support to the work of the surgeon, tell them your activity is important, it is important to register, is Important a database in the hospital."
She stressed that it is necessary to incorporate photographers to the team of work in hospitals, to professionalize this activity, besides considering the advantages that photography gives like the immediacy, easy to store and to send the digital files, as well as the accessibility to a camera device.
It should be noted that the material captured by Juliette could be seen in the exhibition "The importance of photographic documentation in the surgical processes" in which 22 photographs were integrated and exhibited at the Forum venue and by October 17, will do the same at the University of Technology of Mexico (UNITEC) León.
Finally, she said that this work represented a great challenge for the difficulties that are presented as small spaces in operating rooms, the time that is invested in each intervention, the lighting of the place, as well as the learning of the protocols that are followed In surgical interventions.
