Guanajuato, Gto., October 8, 2018.- 12 teams of three high schools (ENMS) of the University of Guanajuato (UG) achieved the pass to participate in the national stage, after their outstanding intervention in the Regional Competition of Educational Robotics WER conducted at the PREPA TEC Campus Querétaro.
Six teams of HS Salamanca, five of HS Historical Center Leon and one of HS Irapuato –these last two will compete with the authorized brand kit Abilix, Model Krypton 7 for high school category—advanced to the national stage of the competition to be celebrated In Mexico City next November.
WER is a unique robotics competition in the world, intended to stimulate intellectual development, competitiveness and a current vision of globalization in primary, secondary and high school students. The challenges, goals and dynamics of this tournament promote the cognitive and emotional development of the participants.
The mechanics of the competition is made up of teams of 3 participants who will design, build and launch the robot that will complete all the required tasks. The WER aims to encourage teamwork and motivate young people to work on different assignments within it, which will help increase their sense of honor and duty.
Two hours before the contest begins, an extra assignment will be made, which each team must complete without the help of their teachers. Participants will split into different divisions and compete in different rounds, each of which has a certain amount of points.
The winning team is determined by the total points obtained. The reason that some tasks are announced at the time of the competition is to keep the contest fair and test the skills of the participants to solve problems independently with the knowledge previously acquired.
For the youth of the UG to participate in a competition of this level represents a great satisfaction and a huge task for the challenges that the national stage implies; they hope to achieve a good result and a worthy representation of the University of Guanajuato.
