Guanajuato, Gto., October 16, 2018.- Thanks to the prestige of the University of Guanajuato (UG) and to the work of the Q.F.B. Alfonso Trujillo Valdivia, Academic Secretary of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences (DCNE) of the Guanajuato Campus, this was achieved for university; the vice-presidency of the Mexican Association of Schools and Faculties of Pharmacies (AMEFAR).
In an interview, the Q.F.B. Trujillo Valdivia, also professor of the pharmacy department and member of the academic body of pharmacy and biomedicine of the DCNE, was very enthusiastic about this appointment, as a university member by heart and celebrates the association of UG with such important and active organizations.
The recent appointment of the AMEFAR, said, will be very important for the students of the UG, because it is a civil association that is watching for the good of all those institutions of higher education where they have schools, faculties or divisions around the Pharmaceutical sciences, which in the case of UG is the degree in pharmaceutical chemist biologist.
He reported that his appointment was only last July this year, and will be for a period of three years, a position he shares with María Elena González, from the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes, who was appointed president of the AMEFAR during a General Assembly where all the institutions of higher education that are part of the organism attended and the vote was unanimously.
One of the main goals for this leadership, he said, is to link higher education institutions that generate educational programs both undergraduate and postgraduate in the pharmaceutical sciences, all with the tendency to homologation of the pharmacist at the international level.
Thus, his commitment will be to ensure all those schools, faculties, divisions that create the degree in pharmacy, regardless of the title; for example, in UG's case, the degree is generated in biologist pharmaceutical chemist; but in other faculties they are called chemical pharmacist-biologist, pharmaceutical chemist biotechnologist, or in the Polytechnic, pharmaceutical engineering or degree in pharmacy.
In the end everything lies in what is the professional pharmacist, explained, so the idea of homologation and international accreditations, as well as legal recognition, which will work to promote changes in the legislation, so that this health professional is recognized in the law as the doctor or the nurse.
In that sense, he recalled that article 79 was recently amended in the General Health Law, where the pharmacist is already recognized as a health professional, but reform also requires changes from other articles to harmonize the rules, so there is much work to do.
