
Irapuato, Gto., November 1, 2018.- The Irapuato-Salamanca Campus of the University of Guanajuato (UG) convened professors from 11 universities and national and foreign research centers to share energy and sustainability studies applied in different sectors such as geothermal, tanner, miner, petrochemical and electric, during a specialized forum.
For three days, participants in the Energy and Sustainability Forum created a space for the dissemination of science and identified opportunities for collaboration, said professor Jorge Arturo Alfaro Ayala, member of the organizing committee, who considered that choosing these research topics as being sensitive to the environment.
University professors from the Division of Life Sciences, the Division of Engineering and the Division of Natural and Exact sciences, worked in coordination to invite peer investigators from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Instituto Geológico y Minero de España, Centro de Innovación Aplicada en Tecnologías Competitivas (CIATEC), Instituto Nacional de Electricidad y Energías Limpias, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina; Centro Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico (CEDINET), Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (Cinvestav), Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) as well as the University of Guanajuato itself (UG).
The Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz, inaugurated the forum in which it addressed topics such as "production of gaseous biofuels from agro-industrial waste", "solutions to heavy and extra-heavy crudes: OxiCraqueo process for revaluation of refining residues", "application of Computational fluid dynamics in the electrical Sector "," cleaning waste residues: transformation of tannery wastes "and" 7 Green Marketing Strategies ".
More cases presented were "Implementation of use of low enthalpy geothermal vapor for trigeneration in Ixtlán de los Hervores", "acid drainage of mines and its natural attenuation", "effect of the contamination of soil by heavy metals contained in household batteries discarded on stems and leaves from the cultivation of Phaseolus Vulgaris", "sustainability of the tanning industry through the valorization of the waste generated: case study Hair" and "energy in buildings".
