
Guanajuato, Gto., October 22, 2018.- Academics from the University of Guanajuato (UG) offer a detailed analysis of 43 programs and government actions in the book "Evaluation of public policies in state governments: The Guanajuato case", text that was coordinated by Dr. Macarena Orozco Martínez.
During the presentation of the work, the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino emphasized the linkage of the academic task to try to improve the public policies and argued that if we want a more orderly and transparent country we must go to the evaluation of these policies.
In addition, he celebrated the participation of students in the project, as it strengthens their preparation in the field of research and expressed his appreciation to the work of Dr. Macarena Orozco, who coordinated the team that participated.
In his remarks to the text, the Director of the Division of Economic Management Sciences (DCEA), Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López explained that the book includes seven works, which under different disciplinary perspectives reflect on the role of the State and contribute to clarify whether public money aimed at public policy is giving the expected results.
The coordinator of the text, Dr. Macarena Orozco Martínez, professor of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH) of the León Campus, mentioned that the work presents evaluations of 43 public policies, and considered that each of the chapters leaves a line of debate and very interesting reflection.
She clarified that in the current context the evaluation is a process under construction, and it is important because it allows to transform and improve the public policies, which translates in search of better solutions for the problems that afflict the country.
In his speech, the Director of evaluation of the Department of Social and Human development, Juan Carlos Meléndez Sánchez said that "Evaluation of public policies in state governments: The Guanajuato case" is a very successful publication and generates a milestone in the efforts being given in the state to improve public policies.
Ma. Guadalupe Covarrubias Álvarez, professor attached to the DCSH of the León Campus explained the process of creation of the work. In this regard, she noted that at the beginning of the project, fellows participated, which gave rise to a first document; later a second team was formed composed of academics, students and graduates, who made possible the work that was presented to an audience formed mostly by members of the university community.
The book was also presented at the Forum site of the León Campus with the presence of José Gerardo Morales Moncada, Secretary of Social and Human development of the state of Guanajuato; Dr. Nancy García Vázquez and Dr. Antonio Ruíz Porras, both academics of the University of Guadalajara, accompanied by Lic. Ma. Guadalupe Covarrubias Álvarez.
It should be mentioned that the specimen involved researchers and graduates of the University of Guanajuato in which various elements are exposed to rethink, transform and improve public policies, as well as propose solutions in their design, management, diagnosis, implementation and evaluation.
In the eight chapters of the work, in addition to Dr. Macarena Orozco, collaborate Dr. Mónica Elivier Sánchez Gónzalez, Dr. Alex Ricardo Caldera Ortega, Dr. Diego Álvarez Montes, Óscar Ortega Ramírez, José Luis Luque Aceves, Martín Granados Alcantar, Luis Abraham Rangel, Arturo Martínez Macías and Lic. Ma. Guadalupe Covarrubias Álvarez.
