Yuriria, Gto., October 24, 2018.- In order to eliminate or reduce the use of plastic, students from the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies of the University of Guanajuato (UG), venue Yuriria proposed different alternatives and the best ideas were awarded in the Eco-Innova contest.

The contest, which allowed the university community to sensitize on the impact of environmental impacts caused by pollution, counted on the participation of 14 projects produced by equal number of teams, winning "The reed era" with the first place, which proposes the use of this material that kiln-dried has multiple uses; "Bolsipet" was the second place with the proposal for the elaboration of bags based on plastic closure rings and "Straw broom" achieved third place.

Other participating projects were techno fashion, biofuel, Eco denim accessories, heat for all, reuse of polluting objects, green spaces, bottle bank, water lily, ecological cigarette and Styrofoam degradation protocol.

Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz, Rector of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus presided over the award and said that it is shown that there are also ideas and proposals in the field of culture and ecology in this university venue.

Reyna Guadalupe Martínez Zavala, student health coordinator congratulated students for their proactive acting and Dr. Eduardo Cabal Yépez, Director of the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies highlighted that the University of Guanajuato wants to contribute to the development of a society with better opportunities from an ecological, social and educational point of view.

On the other hand, the Student Development Coordinator of the Irapuato-Salamanca Campus, Ma. Susana Pérez Camacho thanked the health promoters for the organization of the Ecological Innovation competition, as well as the president of the Student society Stephany Jatziri Rivera Rodríguez for their enthusiastic participation.
