Guanajuato, Gto., October 26, 2018.- The Mentor program came to its seventh edition with the mission to strengthen the work done by students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) in favor of children of fourth, fifth and sixth grade, through which they seek to contribute to the construction of their life plan.

During the inauguration, which took place in the Language Centre Auditorium, the program's members endorsed their commitment to maintain and strengthen this initiative that materializes in a three-stage programme focused on battling problems in Educational demand.

The program in its seventh edition began its activities between children and mentors on Monday October 22, in the Central building of the University of Guanajuato, with actions that are carried out from Monday to Saturday. The period of this edition will conclude next November 30th.

The mentoring program began in May 2015, so far seven editions have taken part in which more than 340 children have participated, more than 190 students or university graduates as mentors and 90 more as an organizing team, of all the divisions of the Campus Guanajuato.

Also, it increased the scope it has had with elementary level students since it has currently worked with eight schools of the municipality of Guanajuato, among them the elementary schools Luis González Obregón, Moisés Sáenz, Juan B. Diosdado, Benito Juárez, Aquiles Serdán, Carlos Montes de Oca, Justo Sierra and Elisa Baz de Armida.

It is worth mentioning that the program has received the recognitions: first place of the "Guanajuato Youth Vision Forum", within the youth week of the municipality of Guanajuato; first place at the state level of the "XI Creativity and Innovation Contest" of the University of Guanajuato, in the field of social project; permanent members of the "Municipal Council for citizen participation in education" of the H. City Hall of Guanajuato; National-level winners of the "UVM Award" as one of the 15 best social impact projects in the country.

Likewise, they have a collaboration agreement with Bicentennial Guanajuato Park; the collaboration was agreed to develop a mentoring headquarters in Tijuana with the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and its members were invited to share their successful volunteer experience at the 8th Service Forum and the 3rd Professional Practices Forum of the Social Service Network of the Central-West Region of the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES).

Within the plans for the year 2019, is the expansion of the program to the four campuses of the UG, in addition to consolidating the expansion to the headquarters at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California.
