Guanajuato, Gto., November 12, 2018.- Nathalia del Carmen Jasso Vera a student of the HS Centro Histórico León of the University of Guanajuato (UG) obtained the bronze medal in the National Mathematics Olympiad held in Campeche.
This result preselects her for the Women's European Olympiad, which implies to continue training to obtain the pass for this international competition; worthy to mention that last year she obtained the silver medal in the same competition.
The Mexican Mathematics Olympiad (OMM) is a program of the Mexican Mathematical Society (SMM), whose main core is the National Contest for high school students. This is the most important contest in our country in that level, so is the National Mathematics Olympiad in the world. OMM's objective is to promote the study of mathematics in a creative way, diverting from the traditional study that promotes memorizing and mechanization, seeking to develop the reasoning and the youth's imagination.
This young student obtains a new medal becoming a referent for success in the competitions she participates in, at her short age has outstood internationally and nationally and the results prove so, both in the Mathematics Olympiad as in events like Talend Land.
Nathalia began in the mathematics competitions since she was 12, fruit of this constancy currently holds two gold medals, three silver and one bronze. She has had stays in France and Canada this year, and won the Municipal Youth Award, which makes this young student a pride for the state, the university and its institution.
"This result is thanks to the effort of many people: from the guys that we make the delegation, the coaches at the Research Center in Mathematics (CIMAT). In my case, the support of my family and school was very important. The work never ends, we continue training to obtain better results in the next editions", mentioned Nathalia.
Guanajuato's delegation obtained the second place in national level by states by obtaining six medals: two gold, two silver and one bronze, which reflects the collaborative work between professors, parents, university authorities, CIMAT and the important work and merit of the students.
