Guanajuato, Gto., December 1, 2018.- Handing recognitions was the frame to close the seventh edition of the program UG Mentors, a space that recognized the work and participations that, for six weeks, allowed to develop the physical and intellectual capabilities of the attendees, giving them spaces for knowledge.

During this time, the work carried out by students of the University of Guanajuato (UG) in favor of children of fourth, fifth and sixth of elementary, through which they seek to contribute to the construction of their life plan, was strengthened.

During his message, M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, Director of Student Development, representing the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, highlighted the support given to the student projects and commended the children and mentors for the effort and Work, because in order to carry out these activities it takes time and will.

He also mentioned the growth of UG Mentors by gradually incorporating students from several academic programs of the university. He also recognized the involvement of parents, thanking them for the support and time they devote to their children to get involved in this program.

Likewise, César Omar Patlán Espinoza, member of the program, recognized in his participation to the microphone the work of the organizing team, the participation of the parents and the participants for their disposition.

On the other hand, Teresita de Jesús Torres Cornejo took the floor on behalf of the mentors, highlighting the delivery of each student involved.

As part of the activities of this event, the awards were given to the girls and boys who participated in this edition, as well as to the university mentors, to the members of the Mexican Diabetes Association and to all the participants, for the effort, will, delivery and work they did in this project.

The boy Uziel Eliut Guerrero Zamudio shared his experience in the project and thanked the opportunity to participate in it.

In addition to the delivery of awards to the participating girls and boys, and the subsequent delivery of certificates to the mentors UG, a special mention was made to Gabriel Vidblain Miranda Gálvez, who is the leader of the project.

During the closing ceremony was projected a video where it summarizes graphically the goals achieved, and also featured the presentation of the storyteller Laura Casillas, who offered a show for all children who attended.

To close the ceremony that took place in the Jesuit courtyard of the University of Guanajuato, it had the participation of the folkloric Ballet of the INAPAM, the development of the "workshop of movements Flavor to Mexico" directed by M. Francisco Manuel Flores, and a games rally that was prepared for children, parents and mentors.

In an interview, the M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, Director of Student Development at UG mentioned that "this is one of the 50 groups of university students who make different types of projects; there are those from altruism, who work community; Spiral, which is a very large project, almost a university Cervantino; PUPAE developers, and I could mention many, but "mentors" is a project of students who believe that for basic education-elementary school children-there is an important success factor that is the accompaniment so that they do not drop out, second: for those children In some way, since elementary school have contact with someone who is studying the university and can become a benchmark for his life."

Context

The mentoring program began in May 2015, so far more than 340 children have participated, more than 190 students or university graduates as mentors and 90 more as an organizing team from all divisions of Campus Guanajuato.

Also, it increased the scope it has had with students of elementary level since it has currently worked with eight schools of the municipality of Guanajuato, among them the elementary schools Luis González Obregón, Moisés Sáenz, Juan B. Diosdado, Benito Juárez, Aquiles Serdán, Carlos Montes de Oca, Justo Sierra and Elisa Baz de Armida.
