
Guanajuato, Gto., December 6, 2018.- With the aim of forming human resources with a high academic level and capable of conducting original scientific research and applying the knowledge to address problems in the area of health, the seminars I and IV of the educational program of the Interinstitutional Doctorate in Psychology at the University of Guanajuato (UG) Campus León were held.
The event brought together 41 students enrolled in the Inter-institutional psychology doctorate and 47 professors who presented research proposals at the regional and national level, with social and health problems approaching such as violence, suicide, childhood obesity, prenatal stress, migration, quality of life, gender violence, diabetes mellitus type 2 among other topics.
It should be noted that the postgraduate program has the collaboration of the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, Universidad de Colima, Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo and the University of Guanajuato and its certified by the National Census of Quality Postgraduates (PNPC) of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) at a consolidated level, which guarantees the quality of education, as well as having highly competitive academic units for the strengthening of teaching.
During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Roberto Montes attached to the University of Colima and who serves as technical secretary of the doctorate welcomed the students and expressed satisfaction with the increase in enrollment and the interest shown by the PhD students to carry out research with social impact, he highlighted the hard work that has been done in the 10 years that has the program with five generations and with more than 70 graduates. In addition, he said "this is a program with national recognition for the relevance and impact of high-level human resource training."
On the other hand, María Paulina Guzmán Bedolla, PhD student, commented that one of the advantages of postgraduate studies is the quality of the academic nucleus and its wide professional trajectory.
She also noted the opportunity she must acquire knowledge and tools to offer solutions to specific psychology cases such as her research project that focuses on the care of infants with obesity and to evaluate the effect of an intervention with the work of the parents.
She said, "my challenge is to contribute a little to the children having conditions in which they are provided to address this obesity problem and to commit these parents to make present a paternity in which they promote two fundamental rights of the children", the right to Health and adequate medical care.
Finally, she valued the participation of the organizing committee that is composed of researchers from the different educational institutions that integrate the program, since the projects are enriched with different perspectives that allow a broader vision of Current problems at home and abroad.
The opening ceremony was attended by M. María del Pilar Fernández Carrasco, Teaching Coordinator of the Division of Health Sciences and Dr. María Gabriela Luna Lara, Coordinator of the Doctorate at UG's Campus León.
