Guanajuato, Gto., December 7, 2018.- Derived from the important participation of the University of Guanajuato (UG) in the National Consultation for an Education with Quality and Equity, students of the institution were invited to the presentation of the results that the federal government held in the facilities of the Ministry of Public Education.

At the event, UG students served as representatives of the 1,948 students who participated in the consultation "UG Dialogues for the Education", Mayela Lozornio Compeán, a civil engineering student; Karime Velázquez Medrano, a medical surgeon student; Miguel Ángel Valtierra Diosdado and Adrián Santana, both from the degree in Industrial Relationships, who were chosen for their remarkable work and leadership in this exercise.

The call for such event was made by the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES), through their executive secretary, M. Jaime Valls Esponda.

The Secretary of Public Education, M. Esteban Moctezuma Barragán presided the presentation; remarked the importance of revaluing the teaching profession and making a deep transformation to strengthen the educational quality and the access with equity.

The National consultation process for education was comprised of four axes: participatory consultation forums in state public universities, the provision of an online platform managed by ANUIES, direct consultation to school principals of the basic level and the realization of consultations to the citizenship by means of the methodology of social dialogue.

This process is notable for the participation of 7043 students from 30 state public universities, who conducted 1,707,458 consultations, in various modalities: 1,102,000 visits to housing, 91140 consultations to people in the streets and public spaces, 134,068 online-motivated consultations and 380,266 dialogues with academic peers from student communities.

It is important to note that UG students carried out 106,899 consultations, between September 10 and October 29 this year, exceeding the goal proposed by the President of the Republic, Lic. Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Likewise, the number of UG students who participated in the project represent more than 27 percent of the total nationwide; Meaning, 1948 of the 7043 students belong to this institution. This great team began with the participation of 109 students, who were called X100UG, summoned their peers and collaborators of organized groups, among others, to reach almost 2000.

The effort of the UG student community, within the framework of the national presentation, had special recognition from the Secretary of Education, M. Esteban Moctezuma, by electing a pupil of the UG to present the results of social dialogues for education on behalf of students from across the country, to representatives of 30 state public universities, both student community who participated in Consultations, such as the rectors, educational authorities and special guests.

Adrián Santana, who undertakes the bachelor's degree in industrial relations at UG, in his speech noted that, beyond the numerical dimension of the results, the approach with the Guanajuato society sowed hope and high expectations of a transformation of educational coverage with quality and equity in our country.

He also emphasized the wide-ranging manifestation among the people consulted of stewardship and commitment to education, from their various tasks and professions in society, students, housewives, professionals, entrepreneurs, public servants, among others. In this sense, he recognized the effort and generous delivery of those who contributed to the achievement of this great consultation.

Finally, he committed the Secretary of Education to facilitate a meeting with the students of the UG who participated in the consultation, on a next visit to Guanajuato; Invitation that the M. Moctezuma Barragán accepted with pleasure.

The event was attended by the Director of student development, M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez, representing the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino.
