-Received accreditation from the Council of Accreditation for Educational Programs in Physics (CAPEF)

Guanajuato, Gto., December 10, 2018.- Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG) received the accreditation of the degree in Physics and Physics Engineering granted by the Council of Accreditation for Educational Programs in Physics (CAPEF) which guarantees a quality educational offer.

Dr. Maria Esther Ortiz Salazar, President of CAPEF and Dr. José Luis Morán López, President of the Council Committee from the same organization were responsible for handing Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of UG's Campus León the accreditation certificates of both educational programs that confirm they have the international and national quality standards.

This new accreditation is for five years and will provide continuity to the work done in the Division of Sciences and Engineering which has the objective to form highly-specialized human resources in physics, but with a potential to develop applied science in different sectors of the country.

"Having the programs accredited implies, as you have said, having the public acknowledgement of what is happening in our entity", expressed Dr. Carlos Hidalgo and indicated its transcendence since it is thanks "of being part the national census of excellence programs and this is recognized by the Secretariat of Public Education".

He added that "the institution can vouch for and guarantee to the society that we are working adequately with recognition and social prestige", likewise, he valued the work of the students and professors which are true agents of change and promoters of liaison, science and application of knowledge".

He highlighted the importance of working together with the business sector, society, academy and the government to "walk by the hand" and solve problems in the country; he concluded "we have the duty to deliver to society the best input, so this society continue its function".

Dr. José Luis Morán commented about the contributions of the scientific community and the progress they have achieved thanks to the dedication the physicists, their effort to generate technological applications and achieving the social recognition.

He mentioned there is the need to insert students of physics and physics engineer students in a morphing society as we all had to live in", where there are new ways to organize and teach.

In this sense, the highlighted the importance of providing a good formation that allows them to perform adequately in the modern society that requires of more specialized services, plus "the physicists are professionals with a great capability to develop in different fields".
