-Five UG students are part of the delegation that will represent the state at the XVIII National Olympiad

Guanajuato, Gto., December 11, 2018.- Authorities of the University of Guanajuato (UG), the Ministry of Education of Guanajuato (SEG) and state delegates awarded the commission who will represent the state at the XXVIII National Chemistry Olympiad.

The delegation was composed of six students, five of whom are students of the higher schools (ENMS) of the University of Guanajuato (UG) and one from the SABES Misión de la Luz.

Of a total of 440 students enrolled and after several eliminations, a shortlist of six young people representing the state in the national edition was obtained, which will be held next year having as headquarters the state of Guanajuato and will be the University of Guanajuato which will house all the students of the country.

The students who will represent the state of Guanajuato at the national stage are: Raúl Alejandro Castro Borja from HS Irapuato; Cesar Fabián Escareño Ramírez, Eduardo Alejandro Guzmán Cuevas & Hugo Martínez Vega from HS Centro Histórico León; José Antonio Sandoval Mendoza from HS de Celaya & Francisco Daniel De La Torre Navarro from SABES Misión de la Luz.

It should be noted that, since the beginning of the year, the students have prepared and surpassed several eliminations: that of their school, a regional stage, the state phase and the last preselection in which they have taken training from the end of October until the end of the past week, led by M. Víctor Manuel Mejía Cobos, professors and alumni from the Division of Natural and Exact sciences.

The external advisers who have consistently supported these young people for the achievement of the above results are: M.C. Miguel Ángel Ruiz Torres & MCA. Diego Armando Nicasio Tovar from HS Centro Histórico León; Dra. Alma Teresa Corona Armenta from HS de Irapuato; IQ. Rosalba Jamaica Martínez from HS Celaya & QFB. Cuauhtémoc Castillo Ramos del SABES.

The award ceremony was attended by: Dr. J. Merced Rizo Carmona, Director of the High School College (CNMS) of UG; Q. Víctor Manuel Mejía Cobos, Delegate in the National Olympiad of Chemistry; Dr. Jesús Raúl Lugo Martínez, Academic Secretary of the CNMS; Lic. Fabio Martín Vargas & Lic. José de Jesús Muñoz Montalvo, representatives of SEG, who congratulated the students for reaching this stage and thanked the consultants for their work, also highlighted the support of parents.

It should be noted that students will continue to prepare during the weekends to make an outstanding participation in the national stage and continue to reap medals for the state since its inception, in 1992, the representatives of the State have Obtained medals in each Olympiad.

For the young people to have obtained the pass to the national stage means a great achievement, comment that they will seek to make a good role and to put in high the name of the state as it is going to be headquarters in the 2019, which propels them to reap medals as in the previous competitions put that Guanajuato is one of the states with great results in this contest.
