León, Gto., January 10, 2019.- In order to raise awareness among children and young people about safeguarding tangible and intangible cultural heritage, as well as strengthen their identity and incorporate them into research and culture projects, researchers at the University of Guanajuato (UG), created the comic book "Patrimonia Sentinel of the Cultural Heritage", as well as a coloring book.

The project participants are Carlota Laura Meneses Sánchez, PhD., José de Jesús Cordero Domínguez, PhD., and Alejandro Mercado Villalobos, PhD., all researchers attached to the Department of Cultural Studies at UG's Campus León.

In this sense, Dr. Carlota Laura Meneses, head of the project, commented in an interview that "there were two implementation strategies, the first was a battery of questions in relation to the heritage issue that was called Heritage log for young people." And, the second, the design of a cartoon in color and the elaboration of a booklet for coloring for a children's audience.

She said the comic is the one that Patrimonia and friends: Peculio (lion), Sabino (bird), Fortuna (frog), y Acervo (a worm that transforms at the end of the story into a monarch butterfly), represent symbols of the material and intangible patrimony of some important cities of the state, which allows the reader to learn about the importance and value of these patrimonies, to know about the danger of their loss and the alternatives to avoid it that is to professionalize in the subject with the master's in new cultural management in patrimony and art.

She asserted that "the youth has a general idea of what heritage is and I believe it is a great area of opportunity for the master's program, to professionalize who are interested in the subject."

Aseveró que "los jóvenes no tienen una idea general de lo que es el patrimonio y creo que es una muy buena área de oportunidad el programa de maestría, para profesionalizar a los interesados en el tema".

It is worth mentioning that the generation of didactic materials for children with the image of Patrimonia will allow to attend elementary schools located within the eight development polygons of the municipality of León, Guanajuato.

It should be noted that the master's in new cultural management in heritage and art will be taught at UG's Campus León and as part of the redesign project sponsored by the Department of Innovation, Science and Higher Education of Guanajuato (SICES), presented the postgraduate program courses in different academic forums.

There were also visits to the Faculty of Arts at the Universidad de Nariño Colombia; to the Division of Economic and Administrative Sciences of Campus Guanajuato; to the high school of Guanajuato; the high school at the Historical Downtown in the city of León; Universidad Pedagógica Nacional UPN 111 Guanajuato and the Elementary School Ángela López de Sánchez, which allowed to apply to a total of 161 students The Patrimonia's logbook that includes a number of points that allow us to know more about the interest, capacities and abilities of the students around this topic.

One of the objectives of these visits was to achieve the linkage with professors and students, to sensitize them about the importance of cultural heritage, their study and preservation.
