Guanajuato, Gto., January 23, 2019.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) through the Department of International Relations and Academic Collaboration, received a group of students from Saginaw Valley State University, located in Michigan, United States, as part of an immersion program Between the two institutions.

The visit was intended to strengthen ties with students of the American institution, who for three days attended Spanish classes and participated in artistic and recreational activities, which encouraged their interest in learning more about the Spanish language and Mexican culture, as well as to make an academic stay at the University of Guanajuato.

This is the second time that this short cultural immersion program takes place, in which 21 students have participated. In addition, the University of Guanajuato and Saginaw Valley have an academic collaboration agreement since the 2014, which is currently in the process of renovation.

The Director of international relations and academic collaboration of the UG, Dr. Elías Rigoberto Ledesma Orozco welcomed the students who made a short stay at the UG, who encouraged them to enjoy this experience and to learn in an active way.

It should be noted that they are considered short cultural immersion programs, visits of 15 days or less of groups formed by 15 students at the University of Guanajuato, through the Directorate of International Relations. These are groups of students from different partner universities, which attend this House of studies with the intention of learning a little of the Spanish language or of putting it into practice.

It is called cultural immersion given the nature of the program that is carried out in the Spanish language and the fact that agendas are elaborated with cultural activities in which they can put into practice what they have learned in their Spanish courses.

Activities range from dancing, cooking, to handicrafts. The idea is that students from abroad who come for a short time will take with them a small, but very concrete and pleasing image of Mexico and the University of Guanajuato.
