
León, Gto., January 16, 2019.- Osvaldo Rafael Ramírez Ibarra, a student of the master's in medical sciences leads the project "Actitud Médica" (Medical attitude) with the objective to create a healthy and ecological environment, plus create a culture engages with the preservation of nature, the environment and care of the infrastructure of the venue "20 de Enero" of Campus León of the University of Guanajuato.
In a joint work with Gonzalo Arroyo Díaz & Martha Mercedes Álvarez Delgado, both interns of the degree in Medical Surgeon and advised by Fernando Cervantes Aguayo, MD., professor of the Department of Medicine and Nutrition, they set in motion the project that integrates 10 actions to create a healthy environment and create an ecological culture through knowledge, values, attitudes and behaviors.
Among these actions you can find the adequate separation of organic residues, s well as paper, pet and aluminum; sewer dredging; restoration and relocation of cigarette butts; removal of plants on walls, quarry and floors, care and maintenance of gardens; elimination of insect or rodent hatcheries; as well as eliminating infectious foci of fecal feces from cats and birds that come to the venue.
Osvaldo Rafael Ramírez mentioned in an interview that they eliminated the fecal feces of birds and cats to avoid a health risk; "the cat that currently live in the venue are being given in adoption". He explained that when the feces dry out and disintegrate produce pollutants for the soil, this allows the generation of parasites that can cause diseases such as toxoplasmosis and leptospirosis.
On the other hand, he mentioned that they placed an antibacterial canvas in the adjoining area with the General Hospital of León which is located near a waste deposit with the intention to reduce potential health risks. Also, he indicated that these actions have involved cleaning, maintenance and gardening personnel to sweep the rooftops, cut the green areas, plant grass, apply fertilizer to plants and preserve clean and safe spaces.
Finally, he said that a structure with padlocks was fitted to ensure bicycles from people attending the Campus; It also seeks to add efforts with students of high school, undergraduate and postgraduate to preserve this emblematic place in the city of León.
It should be noted that this project was one of the initiatives participating in the call environment UG in which students and academics participated involving the university community to improve spaces in different sites of UG's Campus León.
